I will never get tired of taking photos of my kids, and thankfully, they don’t seem to mind too much:) We took a walk near our church recently and I snapped these photos of them while they searched for flowers, shiny objects, and cool places to try out skateboard tricks. I only had to tell them once not to pick up the empty beer bottles and smash them on the ground, although I could see that they still though it sounded like fun;) They also found an old, graffitied school bus and desperately wanted to try to climb inside, but I told them I was too scared of the rodents we’d find inside (which was the absolute truth).
I love exploring with them, and I am so excited that we are headed on a road trip to St. Louis next week! It’s a 12 hour drive that we will be breaking up by visiting family in Kansas as well (yay!). I know it will be a lot of fun, but I’m also aware that road trips with kids can get a bit long and stressful at times. Any favorite tricks or tips to keeping kids busy (and fighting free) for long periods?

Surprisingly, on our last road trip I grabbed my old “automobile BINGO” games that I had tucked away and never really used when they were younger (now 11 and 13)…..they LOVED it! Played it over and over, made up ways to kind of fudge their way through some of the items as we traveled through Nebraska and some of the “city” items just couldn’t be found in our neck of the woods. I would hear them back there just cracking themselves up at some of their fudges…who knew? These little gems will be traveling in the backseat pockets from now on. Have a great time!! Nothing better than hanging with your favorite peeps traveling across our beautiful country!

Used to give Tristan and Valerie a roll of quarters at the start of the trip. Every time they asked, “Are we there yet?” , they had to pay a quarter. When we got to our destination, they could spend what they had left.
