Project ReStyle: Rolling Pin Drawer Handles

Whenever I get an idea for a DIY project, I usually pick something that is way more complicated and time-consuming than my deadline allows.  I don’t know why I do that, but the good news is, sometimes it helps me to drop my overly-ambitious project and see a good idea in something less complicated.  My Project ReStyle this week was going to be some new pieced-together kitchen curtains, but alas they were way too much effort for the amount of time I had to give, so I dropped them.  I was kind of at a loss with what I should do instead, but I was walking through Michael’s with my kiddos over the weekend, and saw these little toy wooden rolling pins in the kid’s section ($1.00 each!).  After thinking for a minute about how cute they would be for a kid’s vintage play kitchen, or an afternoon Play-Doh party, I suddenly got an idea:  drawer handles!

Tristan drilled a hole in each one, and used a spacer and bolt thing (don’t remember which kind) to attach them to the drawers – he’s so handy (and cute!).

What do you think of them?  Cute, kooky, and a little kitschy huh?  But to tell you the truth – they make me smile each time I walk into my kitchen:)

Speaking of the kitchen, I’m in the mood to cook tonight (which doesn’t happen very often)!  I am going to make a  Cesar salad with avocado and pepperoni, grilled flat bread sandwiches with fresh spinach, feta, olive oil, and tomatoes, and homemade macaroni and cheese – yum!  I’m still trying to figure out whether to have Smores or funnel cakes for dessert….what’s your vote?  Oh, and in case you were thinking, “wow, I can’t believe that they eat all of that for dinner!” – we don’t have big, rich, calorie-loaded meals like this on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis.  Probably happens 5-6 times a year….at most.  I think maybe the rolling pin handles are inspiring me food-wise:)

Can’t wait to see Stormie Dae’s next Project ReStyle in a couple weeks!  See our previous projects here:  #1, #2, #3, #4
