NYC: The places we go

Our goal for the trip was to visit the least amount of “touristy” places as possible and not visit anywhere that we have back home…except Starbucks – for we will ALWAYS make an execption for that.

Thanks – we will.

The only other exception we made of places to go that we have where we live turned out to be the first store we visited.

I couldn’t resist…it was Anthropologie.  In New York.  It was definitely all I thought it would be, and more.  I can’t get enough of that place.

The first day in New York was our day to wander and take in the city while we waited to check into our hotel.  It was also a chance for me to practice taking photos without looking like a complete tourist…turns out, for me that’s impossible and I just had to get over it and get on with it.

We wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge so we could spend the day rummaging through loads of interesting and delightful castaways at all of Brooklyn’s fantastic thrift stores.  The breeze off the water was a welcome change to the hot and humid weather that we were about to step back into for our thrifting trek – but the amazing finds we came away with were totally worth the heat.

We made the trek to Times Square – only because I guess that’s what you do when you’re in New York…it was a little too touristy for our blood and we only spent about 10 minutes there.  I suppose it is nice to say I’ve seen it – but it definitely was not my favorite part about our trip.

Central Park was quiet and peaceful and we could have spent hours laying in the shade, watching all of the interesting people.

Our days were full of shopping, people watching and just hanging out – the places we went were only part of the incredible trip that it was.  Check back tomorrow for a photo of hands down the most interesting person we saw in Central Park…as well as others.
